If you took a rust free, original, restorable split window and did that you would be a monster. However those examples are becoming almost non existent. It is, or at least used to be common to graft the rear window section of an otherwise rotted out split or oval onto the body of a later model.

nobody would care if they did that to a beetle, i was going to post examples but people have. Then you have the baja beetles.
The modding community with those cars is stronger than most.
